m any of us don’t know him, but he is, in some ways, in every Tunisian’s mind. This architect, who has built over 300 buildings across Tunisia, have shaped modern architecture in the country. Olivier Clément Cacoub was born on April 14th 1920 in Tunis, he is the Grand Prix de Rome recipient in 1953. After three years at the Villa Médicis and numerous travels, he has the opportunity to build in Tunisia. He owes this chance to President Habib Bourguiba, who entrusted him with the reconstruction of Monastir, his hometown. In this city, he achieves a hundred various projects such as the Palais des Congrès, the Martyrs’ Mausoleum, the stadium, the high school for boys and for girls and the 6
