à travers l’exposition Canaletto 1697 - 1768, le Musée de Rome
célèbre le 250ème anniversaire de la disparition du grand peintre
vénitien, en présentant la plus grande collection d’œuvres jamais
exposée en Italie. 68 peintures, dessins et documents prêtés pour
l’occasion par les plus grands musées du monde, témoignent du génie
pictural de Giovanni Antonio Canal, connu pour avoir été l’un des
principaux « Vieux Maîtres » de la Renaissance vénitienne.
Parmi les chefs-d›œuvre exposés deux œuvres se démarquent
nettement des autres : celles appartenant à la Gianni Art Gallery et à la

The exhibition - opening on April 11 in Rome and running through August 19 -
marks the 250th anniversary of the aptly surnamed Venetian painter’s death. 
The exhibit - “Canaletto 1697-1768” - will showcase the largest number of
masterworks by the artist ever displayed in Italy, including 68 drawings, books
and archive documents and paintings from Italian museums as well as private
collections and museums abroad. It has the objective of giving an insight
into Canaletto’s entire career – from his work as a set designer through his

revolution of landscape painting. The exhibit is a token of the genius of Giovanni
Antonio Canal, one of the main “Old Masters” of the Venetian Renaissance. I
