Les racines poussent aussi dans le béton
Du
14 avril au 16 septembre 2018 L’ artiste Kader Attia investit le Musée d’ Art Contemporain du Val de Marne à travers une exposition inédite. Intitulé « Les racines poussent aussi dans le béton », l’ événement offre des pistes de réflexions, pour établir un lien entre l’ architecture des grands ensembles et « les maux et les joies qui articulent la vie dans les cités ». Kader Attia, lauréat du prix Marcel-Duchamp en 2016, explore l’ histoire de ces « cités dortoirs », bâties sur des théories utopiques du début du XXème siècle et puisant leur origine dans la région du Mzab, aux portes du Sahara algérien. From 14 April to 16 September 2018. The Musée d’ Art Contemporain du Val-de-Marne will host Kader Attia’ s initiatic exhibition built around architecture and its relationship to bodies. The eventexhibition at the MAC VAL“ Les racines poussent aussi dans le béton” is conceived as an“ intimate conversation with the audience” in order to“ probe-together- the evils and the joys that structure life in the suburbs”. Winner of the Marcel Duchamp Prize in 2016, Kader Attia explores the history of the so-called bedroom suburbs that embody the modernist and utopist theories of the first half of the 20th century, yet likely inspired by the earthen architectures of the Mzab in the Sahara.
