Kerkennah a vibré au
rythme du premier
festival dédié à la
photographie, à la
vidéo et aux arts
numériques en Tunisie.
Placée sous le signe
de l’échange et de
la collaboration
internationale, cette
première édition du
Kerkennah 01 a réuni
une cinquantaine
d’artistes Tunisiens et
étrangers ainsi que de
nombreux amateurs,
autour d’une passion

commune, l’art.
E
n ce début d’été, la paisible Kerkennah a été le théâtre d’une toute nouvelle
expérience artistique. Pendant une semaine, les rues, les écoles, les plages, la
palmeraie, les monuments et les ports de l’archipel ont accueilli les nombreuses
manifestations du festival Kerkennah 01. Muni d’un « passeport artistique », d’une
carte au trésor et d’une boussole, les visiteurs ont pu découvrir, à leur rythme, les
différentes activités artistiques, en même temps que les splendides paysages de l’île.
Le port de pêche El Attaya hébergeait les expositions, Sidi Youssef résonnait au son
des soirées musicales, tandis que le volet éducatif (comprenant différents workshops et
débats) du festival était centralisé, à la pointe nord de l’île.
Organisé en collaboration avec le Goethe Institut et avec la participation de la galerie
Ghaya, Kerkennah 01 entend créer une plateforme où se rencontrent les artistes de divers
horizons, afin d’établir un réseau professionnel entre les scènes locale et internationale.
L’occasion pour une cinquantaine d’artistes Tunisiens (dont les photographes Zied
Ben Romdhane, Hichem Driss et Sophia Baraket) et Nord-africains, d’exposer leurs
œuvres aux regards d’experts étrangers. Si la photographie était au centre du festival, à
travers 5 expositions et la présence de la célèbre agence berlinoise Ostkreuz, plusieurs
projections de courts métrages et performances musicales de styles variés ont affirmé
l’émergence d’une nouvelle scène artistique tunisienne à l’avenir très prometteur.I

From June 21 to 27, Kerkennah Islands
held the first festival in Tunisia
dedicated to photography, video and
digital arts, based on exchange and
international collaboration. Kerkennah
01 first edition brought together -
around a common passion - some fifty
Tunisian and foreign artists, as well as
many amateurs.
the Island’s breathtaking landscapes. Exhibitions were held at El Attaya fishing port, fantastic musical
evenings brought life to Sidi Youssef, whereas the educational section (including various workshops and
debates) of the festival was concentrated, at the North of the Islands.
In collaboration with Goethe Institute and Ghaya Gallery, Kerkennah 01 aimed to create a platform
where artists from different horizons meet so to establish a professional network between local and
international scenes; a great opportunity for fifty Tunisian artists including photographers, namely Zied
Ben Romdhane, Hichem Driss and Sophia Baraket and North Africans, to display their works for foreign
experts. No doubt, photography was at the core of Kerkennah 01 with five exhibitions, in addition to the
remarkable presence of Ostkreuz famous German agency. Yet, several projections of short films and
diverse musical performances stress the emergence of a new promising Tunisian art scene. I
