Le Bauhaus fête ses
100 ans à Tunis
Plus qu’une école, le
Bauhaus est devenu au
fil du 20e siècle, le plus
important mouvement
de pensée artistique.
Fondé en Allemagne en
1919 par Walter Gropius,
il a fêté cette année
son centenaire. Pour
l’occasion, le Goethe
Institut de Tunis lui a
rendu un bel hommage.

the Bauhaus has become
the most important
movement of artistic
thought over the 20th
century. In honor of
the 100th anniversary
of the founding of
the Bauhaus by Walter
Gropius, the Goethe
Institute in Tunis
paid homage to the
revolutionary style of
design.

nombreuses
festivités
se sont succédé pour mettre
en lumière le centenaire du
Bauhaus. Organisée par le
Goethe Institut à Tunis, cette
série d’événements a débuté
par une conférence à l’École
Nationale
d’Architecture
(ENAU)
du
Dr.
Arne
Winckelmann, historien de
l’architecture à Francfort-sur-le-
Main et diplômé du Bauhaus à
Weimar.
Une grande exposition intitulée
« Utopia » a ensuite eu lieu
du 1er au 16 novembre
à Dar Lasram, siège de
l’Association de Sauvegarde
de la Médina de Tunis.
Pensée et scénographiée par
la commissaire d’exposition
Meriem Besbes, l’exposition a
mis en valeur les œuvres de la
scène créative tunisienne qui
a su interpréter à sa manière
les influences du Bauhaus sur
le design et l’art en Tunisie.
Ainsi, artistes, architectes et
designers venus d’horizons
variés ont exprimé à travers
leurs œuvres, dans ce lieu à la
forte résonnance patrimoniale,
un nouveau regard sur les

years of the
Bauhaus.
From 29 October to 16 November,
many festivities followed one
another to highlight the centenary
of the Bauhaus. Organized by
the Goethe Institute in Tunis, this
series of events began with a
lecture at the National School of
Architecture (ENAU) by Dr. Arne
Winckelmann, an architectural
historian in Frankfurt am Main
and a graduate of the Bauhaus in
Weimar.

ont également participé à l’élaboration de
cette exposition en proposant des installations.
Un travail titanesque qui a reçu de la part des
nombreux visiteurs un grand enthousiasme.
Le programme des festivités a été clôturé par une
soirée au théâtre l’Étoile du Nord, entre musique
et performances. Tunis a ainsi rendu hommage,
le temps de quelques jours, au Bauhaus, un
mouvement parfois encore inconnu pour
certains mais qui influence grandement jusqu’à
aujourd’hui le design, l’art et l’architecture dans
le monde. I
A major exhibition entitled
“Utopia” was then held from
1 to 16 November in Dar
Lasram, headquarters of the
Association de Sauvegarde de
la Médina de Tunis. Designed
and scenographed by exhibition
curator Meriem Besbes, the
exhibition
showcased
the
works of the Tunisian creative
scene, which has successfully
interpreted in its own way the
influences of the Bauhaus on
design and art in Tunisia. Thus,
artists, architects and designers
from various backgrounds have
expressed through their works, in
this place with a strong heritage
resonance, a new perspective on
the influences of the Bauhaus. ENAU students also
participated in the development of this exhibition by
proposing installations. A titanic work that received
great enthusiasm from the many visitors.
The festivities ended with an evening of music and
performances at the Étoile du Nord theatre. Tunis
thus paid tribute, for a few days, to the Bauhaus, a
movement that is sometimes still unknown to some
but which has greatly influenced design, art and
architecture in the world to this day.I
