Keith Haring au BOZAR de Bruxelles

Le musée BOZAR de Bruxelles présente une grande rétrospective
du légendaire artiste américain, Keith Haring (1958-1990). Ami
et compagnon d’art à la fois d’Andy Warhol et de Jean-Michel
Basquiat, Keith Haring manifesta une présence unique dans le New
York des années 1980, jouant un rôle clé dans la contre-culture
et créant un style immédiatement reconnaissable. Surtout célèbre
pour ses motifs iconiques, l’artiste a puisé ses influences dans
l’expressionnisme abstrait, le pop art, la calligraphie japonaise
ou les travaux des grapheurs new-yorkais. Son style singulier, en
apparence spontané, est tout autant traversé par les énergies de
son époque, du voyage dans l’espace au hip-hop et aux jeux vidéo.
Cette exposition est un aperçu de la carrière brève mais tellement

BOZAR presents a large retrospective exhibit of the iconic American artist, Keith
Haring (1958-1990). Through enormous drawings and paintings, videos, collages,
posters, painted objects and murals, you get a glimpse of the artist’s short and
powerful career in the vibrant New York art scene of the early 1980s. Haring was
involved in the fight against drugs, aids, apartheid and the nuclear arms race. His
main ambition was to make ‘public art’ that he distributed through his Pop Shop
boutique and the channels of mass media or in subway stations and collective urban
spaces in collaboration with Andy Warhol and Jean-Michel Basquiat who shared his
desire to unite high art and popular culture. An exhibition to look forward to. I
