La Tunisie organise le XVIIIème
Sommet de la Francophonie
La Tunisie sera marquée en 2020 par un événement d’envergure: l’organisation du XVIIIème Sommet de la
Francophonie. Elle est le premier pays nord-africain à accueillir sur son sol ce rendez-vous de 88 chefs d’Etat et de
gouvernement des cinq continents. Un enjeu capital pour l’image du pays.
A
u terme des travaux de la 36e Conférence ministérielle de
la Francophonie tenue les 30 et 31 octobre à Monaco,
l’Arménie, hôte du dernier Sommet de la Francophonie, a
transmis la présidence de la Conférence à la Tunisie qui abritera le
XVIIIe Sommet de la Francophonie les 12 et 13 décembre 2020,
la Tunisie.
Cette édition qui coïncidera avec la célébration du 50 ème
anniversaire de l’Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie
(OIF) anciennement appelée l›Agence de coopération culturelle et
artistique, dont le Leader Bourguiba fut l›un des pères fondateurs.
On rappelle que les Sommets de la francophonie qui se tiennent
tous les deux ans depuis 1986 sont des rencontres entre des chefs
d’État et de gouvernement des pays membres de l’OIF. Ce sera
également le 1er Sommet de la Rwandaise Louise Mushikiwabo en

tant Secrétaire générale (SG) de l’OIF depuis son élection en 2019,
qui s›attèle à une restructuration de l›Organisation.
Ce nouveau sommet aura pour thème la «Connectivité dans la
diversité : le numérique vecteur de développement et de solidarité
dans l’espace francophone.» Un événement prometteur qui on

Francophonie. It is the first North African country
to host this gathering of 88 heads of state and
government from five continents. A crucial

A
t the end of the 36th Ministerial Conference of the Francophonie held on
October 30 and 31 in Monaco, Armenia, host of the last Francophonie
Summit, transferred, the chairmanship of the Summit to Tunisia, which will
host the 18th Francophonie Summit on 12 and 13 December 2020.
This edition will coincide with the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the
International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF), formerly known as the
Agency for Cultural and Artistic Cooperation which Leader Habib Bourguiba was
one of the founding fathers.
It should be recalled that the Francophone Summits, which have been held every
two years since 1986, are meetings between heads of state and government
of OIF member countries. It will also be the first Summit of Rwandan Louise
Mushikiwabo as Secretary General (SG) of the OIF since her election in 2019,
which is working on a restructuring of the Organization.
The theme of this new summit will be “Connectivity in diversity: the digital vector
of development and solidarity in the French-speaking world”. A promising event
