Jasper Johns à la Royal Academy of Arts
Du 23 septembre au 10 décembre 2017 Cette exposition consacrée à Jasper Johns , peintre , dessinateur et graveur américain , est la première grande rétrospective sur le travail de l ’ artiste depuis 40 ans au Royaume-Uni . Celui qui fut l ’ un des artistes les plus importants du XXe siècle a bouleversé l ’ art américain , dès son arrivée à New York dans les années 1950 . Il est également à l ’ origine du pop art américain . Son traitement de l ’ iconographie , comme son appropriation des objets et des symboles , tel son drapeau ( Flag - 1954 ) est vite devenu iconique . L ’ exposition présente un ensemble de 150 peintures , sculptures , impressions et dessins . Jasper Johns subject of major Royal Academy retrospective
From 23 September to 10 December , 2017 Jasper Johns , American painter , sculptor and printmaker , is to be the subject of a major exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts in London , the first major retrospective on the artist ’ s work to be held in the UK in 40 years . Widely known for his iconic images of flags , targets , numbers , letters , maps , he has occupied a central position in American art since the 1950 ’ s . He effectively led the foundation of the pop art movement . His treatment of iconography and appropriation of objects and symbols such as his painting “ Flag ” in 1954 , swiftly became iconic . Comprising over 150 paintings , sculptures , prints and drawings , the exhibition will reveal his groundbreaking works , and will focus on the different aspects of his career .
