César, la rétrospective inédite.
Du 13 décembre 2017 au 26 mars 2018
Le Centre Pompidou accueille pour une durée de trois mois la
rétrospective du célèbre sculpteur César. À travers une sélection riche
d’une centaine de pièces venues du monde entier, l’exposition entend
révéler la puissance créatrice et la complexité exceptionnelle de l’œuvre
de cet artiste hors norme, oscillant constamment entre classicisme et
modernité, émancipation du matériau et recherches classiques.
En suivant un parcours thématique, cette exposition vous invite à
découvrir, dans toute sa richesse et sa splendeur, l’œuvre de l’un des
plus grands sculpteurs de son temps.
A travers des réalisations majeures les plus célèbres, telles que les
fameux Fers, les Compressions ou les Empreintes Humaines, en
passant par certaines moins connues, cette rétrospective présente un
ensemble inédit à ce jour de la dernière figure majeure du Nouveau

The Centre Pompidou Centre is presenting during three months a major exhibition
– a retrospective dedicated to the work of the French sculptor César Baldaccini.
The French sculptor famous for his compression of industrial objects and his
expansions is one of the most important French artists of New Realism. From his
work addressing current themes like over-consumption, he questions through a
satirical universe, which denounces as much as it intrigues.
The exhibition at the Pompidou Centre shows 100 works from around the world,
many of which are today considered to be icons of modern sculpture, Undoubtedly,
one of the most important personalities of the last century, César is the author of the
giant Thumb, Compressions, and the bronze trophy for the ceremony of the ‘Césars’
French Cinema awards.  Showing until 26 March 2017, the exhibition ‘César’ is a
