AN OVERVIEW OF COUNCIL DISTRICT OUTREACH WEBINARS
Power and the Port of Los Angeles , is in the midst of a major multi-billion-dollar construction boom . In Councilwoman Rodriquez ’ s district alone , there are approximately $ 60 million dollars in ongoing construction project opportunities . Since Los Angeles is the host for the 2028 Olympics , there will be even more focus on developing critical projects in the near term , and programs like CFAP represent significant developments in efforts to include small and diverse contractors in public contracts .
Attendees heard from representatives of the City ’ s proprietary departments regarding small business opportunities and the importance of certifications for public contracts . The Bureau of Contract Administration elaborated on the basics of the certification process . While each representative discussed different constructions project opportunities , a common theme throughout was the importance of getting certified .

Supervisor Mitchell emphasized the importance of contractors learning the fundamentals of bonding and utilizing the resources available to them .
