Haim Zafrani , Principal Owner and CEO of Angel City Development and his business partner Yaniv Eliezer bring a range of professional experience to Angel City Development , the construction company they founded in 2018 . Haim ’ s previous career in corporate management and as an owner of a health and beauty distribution company paired with Yaniv ’ s engineering background and 15 years in construction is clearly a winning combination — they consistently earn 5-star ratings and high praise from their clients .
Licensed as a General Building Contractor ( B ) and currently working on getting SBE-certified , Angel City Development first connected with the Contractor Development and Bonding Program ( CDABP ) at a trade show , shortly after launching . As Haim explains , “ I talk and network with everybody . Michelle Quirante ( of the CDABP staff ) invited us to participate in their program and explained the assistance they could provide , so we signed up for their six-week training academy . The course was informative and we networked with many peers . Being General Contractors , we have to be experienced in all trades , so connecting with drywallers , electricians and other specialty trades is mutually beneficial .”
Building credibility as a new company was one of the biggest challenges Angel City Development faced , but Haim and Yaniv put a lot of time and effort into creating a portfolio showcasing their prior experience , including some ultra-luxurious and highly custom residential homes that Yaniv had worked on .
While the COVID-19 pandemic had an impact on Angel City Development , they found ways to keep the business afloat . “ We had some restaurant build-outs lined up , and our business got cut in half when those were cancelled . As we did not have other projects scheduled , the stakes were high for us to come up with other work fast .” recalls Haim . “ Fortunately , we had the flexibility to pivot from commercial to residential work .” A friend ’ s request that Angel City Development design and build a home gym led to several other garage-to-gym and garage-to-office remodels , high-end residential renovations , and other custom construction projects . “ Right now , we are doing a Bel Air home remodel , a West Hollywood condo renovation , building an accessory dwelling unit ( ADU ) in Encino , and taking on less extensive commercial tenant improvement projects . Being flexible about the types of projects we take on is our strength .”
