CDABP CERTIFICATION
The next speaker was Jessica Mireles , Senior Counselor , from the Los Angeles County Workforce Development , Aging , and Community Services ( WDACS ) Department ’ s Office of Small Business ( OSB ). Mireles explained the various business services of the WDACS Department , especially the OSB ’ s Procurement Technical Assistance Center ( PTAC ), which provides small business concierge and small business counseling services . She walked attendees through the four certification steps : 1 . register , 2 . get certified , 3 . research the opportunities , and 4 . respond to solicitations , marketing , and networking opportunities . Ramon Ortiz , Manager , Certification & Economic Development Diversity & Economic Opportunity with LA Metro , was the third speaker . He informed the audience that similar to professional certifications , small business certifications document a special capability or status that will help businesses compete in the marketplace . Tuason also discussed how the certification process for the City of LA consists of a preliminary intake review , assignment to an analyst , a desk audit , a possible on-site visit , and a final review . The training closed with a Q & A session directed by Navid Barkhordar , Vice President and Director of Client and Program Management at MWIS .
