Experience and Collaboration as a Recipe for Success

“ After joining the Marine Corps in 1979 , I was trained as an electronic specialist and advanced technician and spent 10 to 12 hours a day in Cobra helicopters , fixing the high-tech electronics – it was top-secret work ,” recalls Isaac Meron , President and CEO of Meron , Inc .
In the 1980 ’ s , when it was time for Isaac to transfer to civilian work , his father – an electrical engineer – told him that the world would always need electricians . Heeding that advice , Isaac started working for a defense contractor doing work similar to what he ’ d done in the Marine Corps . In the 1990 ’ s he went through IBEW union training , got licensed and certified and worked his way up through the ranks , becoming a foreman , then a general foreman . In the early 2000 ’ s , his father encouraged him to get an electrical engineering degree , which shifted Isaac ’ s focus from working hands-on with tools to overseeing large crews as an engineer and Project Manager . “ I worked on power and nuclear plants , overseas jobs for international conglomerates , stadiums and other major projects .”
Licensed as a C-10 Electrical Contractor and Class-A General Engineering Contractor , Isaac incorporated his own business in 2017 . Meron , Inc . is a veteran and minority-owned construction firm specializing in energy consulting , construction management , general engineering , and electrical construction . “ For the first couple of years , I found private sector clients who needed my level of expertise and had ample work remodeling and revamping existing electrical systems , since much of L . A .’ s electrical system is over 50 years old and needs updating .”
Although his family is well-versed in estimating and contracting , Isaac found this aspect of running his own company one of the most challenging . “ While I had amassed significant experience in the field , other than occasionally helping to negotiate a contract for a General Contractor , I hadn ’ t dealt with this level of contracting detail . I was constantly getting blindsided . It ’ s very challenging to mitigate financial risk and account for unknowns that we may encounter on the job site . Once you are the
