Councilmember Mitch O ’ Farrell graciously opened his district workshop for presentations by the Contractor Development
Councilmember Mitch O ’ Farrell and Bonding Program , Public Works Bureau of Engineering , Los Angeles Department of Water and Power ( LADWP ), and Los Angeles World Airports ( LAWA ). In his warm welcome , the Councilmember encouraged contractors to participate in the Contractor Development and Bonding Program in order to prepare themselves to bid on projects throughout Los Angeles . “ As elected officials , we have fought hard to get this type of program implemented to help licensed contractors benefit from public contracting opportunities . As you know , working with public agencies is challenging , but this program is here to help contractors break through the barriers ,” he remarked .
With $ 611 million in ongoing construction projects , Councilmember O ’ Farrell said that he hopes contractors take advantage of the Program and the many opportunities available to them even within Council District 13 alone . As this workshop
also made clear , billions of additional dollars in construction opportunities exist with the City ’ s three independent departments : LAWA , the Port of Los Angeles and the LADWP .
