Both presenters emphasized that a strong safety culture is further defined by the practice of influencing minds toward shared values through a personal safety ethic and the degree to which safety considerations are integrated into the decision-making process . They recommended that safety documentation should include an Injury and Illness Prevention Program ( IIPP ), an Emergency Action Plan ( EAP ), a Site-Specific Safety Plan ( SSSP ), a Job Hazardous Analysis ( JHA ), Pre-Task Planning ( PTP ), and OSHA 10 Hour and 30 Hour Certifications .
“ Your designated safety person can wear many hats , but the job site does need that competent person out there to ensure safety ,” said Mr . Malson . “ A lot of times with the smaller companies who have minimal employees , your superintendent will also be your competent person and your designated safety person . This person is the one who is capable of identifying existing and predictable hazards in the surroundings or working conditions which are unsanitary , hazardous , or dangerous , and who has the authority to take prompt corrective measures to eliminate them .”
