Outreach with Elected Officials
In the first half of 2024 , the CDABP hosted five outreach workshops with elected officials . Workshops were held with the offices of L . A . County Supervisors Kathryn Barger , Holly J . Mitchell , and Lindsey Horvath , as well as L . A . City Councilmembers Bob Blumenfield and Monica Rodriguez . On January 18 , Los Angeles County Supervisor and Metro Board Member Kathryn Barger co-hosted a virtual workshop with Merriwether and Williams Insurance Services ( MWIS ) entitled , “ Helping Contractors Do Business with L . A . County and Metro .”

Intended to raise public awareness about the Los Angeles Regional Contractor Development and Bonding Program ( CDABP ), which is administered by MWIS , the workshop included representatives from L . A . Metro , the L . A . County Public Works Department , and the Internal Services Department ( ISD ).
In 2022 , the County of Los Angeles adopted the CDABP with the aim of creating wealth for small contractors and boosting the regional economy . With the CDABP , small contractors have been able to gain access to procurement opportunities with a range of public agencies .
Presenters offered the audience insights about the significance of certifications , step-bystep guidance on registering as vendors in procurement portals , and information about future construction opportunities with their respective departments .
