MWIS ’ other activities included participating in a LA Department of Water and Power ( LADWP ) Supplier Diversity Fair in February and the Hawthorne Business Expo in March . MWIS ’ Ingrid Merriwether spoke on a panel and the MWIS team hosted informational tables at each event .
Key to the success of the CDABP is raising public awareness , communication , and media outreach . During this period , we were featured in six news items , ranging from printed publications to radio shows , for which we have provided links for further reading and listening .
To complement the qualitative information we provide , we also include quantitative data through eight summary statistics covering this period : the number of contractors enrolled , education and training sessions provided , sponsor workshops , prime partners , instances of technical assistance , as well as the dollar values of CFAP loans issued , bid bonds issued , and the direct cost savings to program sponsors .
Finally , as referenced earlier , MWIS has taken a noteworthy step toward achieving even greater impact . Effective May 1 , 2024 , MWIS was acquired by Hub International Insurance Services ( HUB ). We are now known as Merriwether & Williams Insurance Services Inc ., a Hub International Company .
Founded in 1997 , MWIS is one of the most respected insurance and risk management agencies in California and will continue to provide the same products and services , including our innovative solutions promoting diversity , equity and inclusion ( DEI ) within the insurance , construction and broader business sectors . Ingrid Merriwether remains in a leadership position , as HUB ’ s President of Aligned Risk Management , our MWIS team members remain largely the same , and we will continue to provide our clients with the individualized service and support for which we are known .
As Ms . Merriwether said in a May 20 Los Angeles Business Journal article , “ What ’ s unique about this structure is that it allows for the bandwidth , reach , capacity and technology of a global company , but really operated and managed at the local level . Unlike some of the really large brokers , they [ HUB ] have these regional models because they want a presence in the community .”
MWIS ’ commitment to the collaborative relationships we have built over the past 27 years remains unchanged , and we are excited to continue working with our construction contractors , partners , and stakeholders for the benefit of all , including our surrounding communities .
With our acquisition by HUB , MWIS and the CDABP remain the same team doing the same work , but now with the nationwide resources and reach to achieve even more impact !
Warm Regards ,
The Los Angeles Regional Contractor Development and Bonding Program Team
