Italy has a grand history in the World Cup stretching all the way back to the 1930s. Since then, they have also had their rough patches. The last time they didn’t qualify for a World Cup was back in 1958. In the space of twenty years, they had gone from the two-time champions-to-beat to non-starters. They boast 4 FIFA World Cup titles, bested only by Brazil who have 5. Italy have also been in 6 finals and have come third once.

We take a look back over some of Italy’s past World Cup triumphs and flops, as we nostalgically remember what we are going to miss this summer. Hopefully things will be different in 4 years’ time!
