Despite it being difficult to drag myself away, Florence was waiting. I spent another stunning, but utterly different, 3 days exploring the home of the Renaissance, perfectly rounded off by watching the sunset from the iconic Piazzale Michelangelo. In complete contrast to the rich culture of Florence, the last few days of the trip were to be spent partying in Rimini, an enormous beach resort on the Adriatic Sea. Miles of sand and cocktails was the ideal antidote to the hot, bustling city life.
My Summer presented me with some truly once-in-a-lifetime experiences. Whether it was witnessing the EXPO of Milan 2015, going to a music festival held in Brescia Castle with DJ’s playing until dawn or meeting the legendary “troppo politico” Italian rapper Caparezza at la Festa della Radio, there was always something going on. Even a weekend trip to Lago Maggiore that was intended to be quiet turned into the spectacular: I had arrived to a swarm of paparazzi, there to snap royal wedding celebrations between Monaco royal Pierre Casiraghi and the Italian heiress Beatrice Borromeo.
AIESEC Brescia, the group of students who organised my internship and my fellow interns were incredible. Before I had even arrived I found an instant group of friends, who were always eager to join whatever trip I was planning next and always ready to accept an invitation for aperitivi! For me, it was an unforgettable experience that I would absolutely recommend to anyone with itchy feet and who loves a challenge.
