2 Medieval Villages
It is a mistake to visits Tuscany and only stop in the most famous of the regions’ towns. Tuscany is also home to many medieval villages, in whose streets you could walk around and get lost just breathing in the history and beauty of the past. The warm colour of the stones on the buildings, the idle talk of the old people outside the village bar and the chirping of the swifts at sunset will have you; who wouldn’t like to stop time and stay there forever?
3 Flawless Landscapes
If you can, rent a car or a bike and drive through the unpaved roads near Siena or in the Chianti area. Hills, sunflower fields, corn fields and cypresses will be the standard view throughout your journey. The summer sun will brush your skin and the breathtaking landscapes will remain impressed on your memory.
4 Seaside
Tuscany is usually associated with its towns and countryside landscapes, but not for its seaside. Tuscany has a great coastline with pretty villages such as Castiglion della Pescaia, Populonia or fashionable seaside resorts like Forte dei Marmi or Monte Argentario. However, if you dream of white beaches and clear turquoise waters, there’s always the chance to swim in the sea on any of the Tuscan islands including Elba, Giglio and Pianosa.
5 Traditional Gastronomy
Last but not least, Tuscany is well-known around the world for its gastronomical greatness: typical food products include its famous variety of salamis, from Finocchiona to Soprassata to Salame di cinta, or desserts such as Cantuccini, Gattò or Zuppa Inglese. Tuscany is famous for so many dishes, that just making a list of all of them makes my mouth begin to water. Oh wait, did I also mention Fiorentina steak, Tagliata or Pappa al pomodoro?! If all this isn’t enough, what is better than drinking a glass of wine in the homeland of Chianti, Montepulciano or even Brunello di Montalcino?
I hope that these are reasons enough to show you why you should go and visit the region of Tuscany. Summer is coming, so what are you waiting for? Pack your bags because all this and more awaits you in the beautiful Toscana!
