NOW BOLOGNA'S POWERS-THAT-BE POSE AS THE SAVIOURS OF STREET ART

The hypocritical attempt of the state to take street art into the safety of their own hands is a subtle notion aiming to displace the autonomy of street artists such as Blu and establish their own authority within a sphere outside of perceived boundaries of formal art.

The removal of Blu’s works is a rejection of the controlled artistic environment provided by the state and a refusal to participate. Using the absence of his work to create a social impact allows him to be in control of the outcome of his own work and defies the state’s attempt to alter the influence of modern street art.
