Welcome back!
Following the most encouraging success of our first on-line magazine, we are highly optimistic about the future of La Civetta. We are now delighted to bring you this summer edition; you'll see that it's bursting with topical issues such as the much-anticipated 2014 FIFA World Cup, which will see Italy and England go head-to-head on 14th June. Will the Three Lions triumph over Gli Azzurri in the opening group match? Ali Haggis discusses the fixture on page 38. Also, for the keen explorers among you, Sahar Zivan’s travel feature gives you a leg up on your summer hikes, taking you through three of his favourite trails in Italy. In Il Dipartimento section, Rosalyn Munton reviews our recent launch event in which students, lecturers and even the Dean of Arts joined us to celebrate the publication of La Civetta's first issue.
With more than 2,000 views already, we are all thrilled by the reception that our first edition has received and hope that you enjoy this one just as much.
Being editor has been an enriching experience, one which I am very sorry to leave behind as I embark on my year abroad. I am proud to have been involved in planting the seeds of this magazine and will enjoy watching it grow next year under the hands of our new editor Sahar Zivan. I wish you all a wonderful summer, wherever it may be, and shall make sure I keep La Civetta ‘sott’occhio’ next year!
Happy holidays!
