Lottie Baring

(BA Spanish & Italian)

Where have you decided to go?

Rome

To do?

Cultural marketing

Why?

I’m interested in going into the marketing area of work once I graduate, and work experience in a foreign culture would be a huge bonus on my CV.

What are you most excited to do?

Spend time with natives and live like an Italian! I’m also very excited to explore Rome, both the famous tourist sites like the Colosseum, and also lesser known places such as the Teatro dell’ Opera. The weather will hopefully be great as I plan to go in my second semester, so I may also visit a few beaches near Rome!

Where have you decided to go?

Bologna

To do?

Study at the university

Why?

I thought that studying would make it easier for me to meet people socially. Being involved in the student body of a university will also hopefully make it easier for me to hang out with people of my own age, rather than having to scout out bars in a city on my own if I were working! Bologna also seems to be the “Bristol” of Italy; it’s not too big, with a buzzing cultural scene and plenty to do for students.

What are you most excited to do?

Explore the city’s culture and history, and also really get to know the best (non-touristy) spots. I’m looking forward to the challenge of having to speak Italian all the time (and survive in doing so!) and the huge excitement of Italian food.
