Dewey Onlu Sınıflama Sistemi / Dewey Decimal Classification Kütüphanedeki kaynaklara kolayca ulaşabilmek, aynı konuda olan kaynakları bir arada bulabilmek ve tekrar aynı düzeni sağlayabilmek adına yapılan Library of Congress ve Dewey Onlu Sınıflama Sistemi adlı iki türlü sınıflama sistemi vardır. Okul kütüphanelerinde kullanılan ve adını Malvin Dewey’den alan Dewey Onlu Sınıflama Sistemi, kitapları konularına göre sınıflandırmaktadır. Sınıflama sistemi, konuları sayısal ifadelerle tanımlayarak kitapları raflara belli bir düzene göre sıralamaya imkân vermektedir. Genel olarak konusu belir- lenen kitap alt konu başlıklarına göre kataloglanır ve bu hiyerarşiye göre bir “sırt etiketi” numarası alır. Aşağıdaki tabloda genel başlıklar halinde verilen sınıflandırma kodları, alt başlıklar ile beraber 4 ciltlik bir kitapta toplanmıştır. Bu kitabın en son 2011 yılında 23. baskısı yapılmıştır. Dünya çapında 135 ülkede 200 binden fazla kütüphanenin bu sınıflama sistemini kullandığı tahmin edilmektedir. Uluslararası bir sistem olan bu sistem ile öğrencilerimiz dünyada bu sistemi kullanan bir kütüphanede rahatlıkla araştırma ve çalışma yapa- bilirler. There are two types of classification systems that are Library of Congress and Dewey Deci- mal Classification System which are estab- lished in order to have access to the resources in the library easily, find the resources in the same topic, and have the same organization again. The Dewey Decimal Classification System, which is used in school libraries and named after Malvin Dewey, classifies books according to their topics. The classification system enables identifying the topics in numer- ical terms and sorting the books according to a certain order. In general, the book is cataloged according to topic and sub-headings and receives a “call number” according to this hier- archy. In the following chart the classification codes given in general headings are collected in a 4-volume book together with sub-head- ings. The 23rd edition of this book was published in 2011 for the last time. It is estimat- ed that over 200 thousand libraries in 135 countries around the world use this classification system. With the help of this system, which is an international system, our students can carry out research and study in a library that uses this system.
