Kim, Kimdir / Who is Who?
Aziz Nesin gülmece anlayışını da şöyle açıklar: "Benim gülmecem,
1. Geleneksel Türk halk gülmecesinden kaynaklanır,
2.Toplumun sorunlarından esinlenir,
3.Çağdaş dünya insanlarının sorunlarını anlatır. Kısacası yaptığım, halk gülmecesidir."
Halk gülmecesini de şöyle açıklar: "Bir işe yarayan, bir işlevi olan gülmece." İşlevse insanları
güldürme yoluyla düşündürmeye yarar. Demek; bana göre gülmece bir araç, düşünmek amaçtır.
Gülmecelerimle okurlarıma şunu düşündürmek istiyorum: Yaşadığımız toplum ve bu toplumsal yapı
adaletli değildir ve içinde bulunduğumuz koşullar da güzel değildir. Adaletsizliklerden, çirkin-
liklerden kurtulmak için başta kendimiz olmak üzere; çevremizi, toplumumuzu, dünyamızı
değiştirme özlem ve isteği yaratmak." (Yetmiş Beşinci Yaşında Aziz Nesin, haz. Alpay Kabacalı,

Bunun için de ne yaşarsa, onu yazar. Yaşamında boyun eğmeyen yanı eserlerine de yansır. Yazarlık
serüveni eserlerinin içeriğiyle örtüşerek onu evrenselliğe taşır. Aslında eserlerindeki gülmece öğesi
olayın kendindedir. O nedenle de halk nerede komik bir olayla karşılaşsa "Tam Aziz Nesin'lik olay"
der.
The people he wrote about are characters who could be ridiculed. This aspect, when combined with
extreme exaggeration, resulted in works that have been widely read. With these aspects Aziz Nesin is
one of the top authors who have been read the most.
Aziz Nesin explains his approach to humor as in the following. My humor:
1. originates from traditional Turkish folk humor;
2. is inspired by the problems of the community;
3. tells the problems of the people of the contemporary world. In short, what I do is folk humor."
He explains folk humor as “humor that serves a purpose and has a function” and continues “the func-
tion serves to make people think through laughing. That is to say, for me humor is a tool/ means and
making people think is the purpose. I want to make my readers think about this through my humor:
The community we live in and this social structure are not fair and the circumstances we are in are not
nice either. In order to get rid of the injustices and the ugliness; to create a desire and an urge to change
our environment, our community, and our world starting with ourselves." (Yetmiş Beşinci Yaşında

Therefore, he writes what he lives. His unyielding nature is reflected in his works. His adventure as
an author overlaps with the content of his works and lifts him up to universality. In fact, the humor
element in his works is inherent in the incident that happens. For that reason whenever people encoun-
ter a ridiculous incident they name it as “A real Aziz Nesin incident”.
