Jaroslaw (Jarek) Blacharski was awarded the JP McManus
All Ireland Scholarship at the 2014 Awards Ceremony in the
University of Limerick on Saturday 8th November in the presence
of his family and school Principal. This award provides Jarek
with a bursary of €6,750 per annum for the duration of his

his Leaving Certificate Examinations 2014 at Coláiste Chraobh
Abhann resulting in a total of 615 CAO points. He is currently
studying Engineering and Computers in University College Dublin.
The ceremony in Limerick was attended by JP McManus and Ms
Jan O’Sullivan (Minister for Education and Skills) among many
other dignitaries. The guest of honour Mr Martin O’Neill (Republic
of Ireland Soccer Manager) delivered the keynote address to the
audience.
Jarek is from Kilcoole although he originates from Poland, moving
to Ireland when he was 10 years old. He lives with his parents
Janusz and Anna and has a younger sister Ella. Jarek says ‘it’s a real privilege to win an All
Ireland Scholarship’. His Principal, Shane Eivers, says that ‘the whole school community
is really proud of Jarek’s success. He is an inspiration to other students and clearly shows
what you can achieve with a strong work ethic and commitment to your studies’.
It has been a very busy few weeks for Jarek as he was also accepted as an ‘Entrance
Scholar’ to UCD at a ceremony held on Thursday 13th November in O’Reilly Hall, UCD.
