News from around the Schools & Centres KWETB St. Farnan’s Post-Primary The academic year 2014-2015 sees the launch of a collaboration between St. Farnan’s Post-Primary School and the German multinational company SAP Ireland, through a link facilitated by the Schools Business Partnership. As part of the initiative, 5th year students will take part in the Skills @ Work programme, where volunteer employees facilitate workshops on CV writing and interview skills, as well as sessions on teamwork, communication, leadership and problem solving. SAP employees will also give them an insight in to the array of roles available to students through visits to the company’s impressive headquarters in City West. Speaking at the launch of the partnership recently, Liam Ryan CEO of SAP Ireland, said “SAP Ireland is delighted to be partnering with St Farnan’s to support the students in their final years. Our employees have been eager to volunteer for the programme as they see it as a tangible way to give back something to the local community and local school”. Arklow Community College In October, Arklow Community College presented Scholarships to members of the Leaving Certificate 2014 class. The five successful candidates were Rebecca Lyons, studying science in Trinity College, Canberk Caldimir and Niamh Cloran Doyle who are in Maynooth studying Science and Arts, Shane Cullen attending University College Dublin and Dermot Reid who is undertaking a degree in Engineering in Waterford Institute of Technology. They are pictured above with Principal Andrew Bolger, Board of Management Chairperson Cllr.
