The takeover by TCS, however, gave CMC a new lease of life which, as per me, merged the best with the best . CMC’s domestic dominance merged with TCS’s global presence, CMC’s great people resources merged with TCS’s best in class client and on-site projects. CMC’s R&D facility found more noteworthy research focus. CMC’s credibility with Government departments was further enhanced with the introduction of Tata Code of Conduct. The experience of allocation of shares of CMC Ltd under Employee Stock Option Scheme was a great learning experience. I had to frame and seek management approval for the policy of how shares were to be distributed based on years of experience and role hierarchy. Opening of NSDL accounts of global employees, getting them activated and then getting shares transferred accurately with zero error was at times tiresome and exasperating. But I later realized how much learning and wisdom it brought me. Similarly rolling out TCoC, TBEM, assimilation of CMC and TCS HR policies and processes, on-site deployment of engineers under lien, adapting the entire ERP to TCS were some amazing experiences.
