The next day , I came to know that there was a small quarrel among the ladies of the neighbourhood over a drain in the street . This had made that uncle furious and he wasted a lot of water in the drain . Now I understood why nobody had spoken in my support when uncle was scolding me . Since that day , all the drinking water was flowing in the drain and nobody had courage to stand against that angry man .
After 2-3 days , we had a lecture in our school over ‘ Being Socially Strong ’. I was so inspired by the lecture that I mentioned my neighbourhood problem to the guest speaker . He simply asked me to report the matter to the SHO of our area . I liked the idea . I went to that uncle ’ s house . He wasn ’ t at home . I told his wife that we all were suffering a lot due to stubbornness of her husband and I was going to report the matter to the SHO . Now , the lady who was the root cause of the problem , immediately changed her tone and began persuading me not to go to Police . She also promised to talk to her husband and assured that there won ’ t be any wastage of water in future .
I realised that we had tolerated the matter in vain . We shouldn ’ t have been timid in the beginning . We all should have been socially strong and helped ourselves . Instead of being intimidated by his anger , we should have spoken to that uncle on the first day itself . By being socially strong , we can build a strong nation too .
