ANONYMOUS SURVEY In the anonymous public survey : “ The Cultural heritage of Prcanj ” targeting the residents of the community of Prcanj in the municipality of Kotor , Montenegro with minimum continuous residence for at least 5 last years , which was held via online platform Google Forms from the 27th of November to 7th of December 2017 , the following results were obtained .
RESPONDENTS ’ PERSONAL NONIDENTIFIABLE INFORMATION
The public survey I held , as an architect and resident of Prcanj , addressed solely the local population : the respondents were 65 , an amount which only covers 5.76 % of Prcanj ’ s total population ( 1128 people , according to 2011 census ). The people who responded to the anonymous questionnaire belong to diverse age groups ; the majority ages between 25-34 years ( 26.2 %) and are , in most cases , native residents with very different levels of formal education . Most of them ( 44.6 %), however , have a university qualification .
COMMUNAL ARRANGEMENT OF PRCANJ
The second chapter of the anonymous questionnaire exposes the problems of the communal arrangement of the town itself . The respondents gave various answers to the question as to how many cultural events they had attended during the last 5 years . Even 13.8 % of them responded that they had attended none of the cultural events in Prcanj during the last 5 years and 27.7 % of them said that they had attended just 1 or 2 events during the last 5 years , which confirms and reflects the real state of cultural stagnation and indifference toward activation of cultural potentials of this particular place . The town of Prcanj , which started its existence as a residential community of noble families who came mainly from Kotor , has retained its character even today . It was developed in a linear pattern along the sea , and it does not have any public place except the monumental staircase and a plateau in front of Our Lady ’ s Temple . It also lacks business facilities , small-sized ones of course , that would serve the population of 1,128 inhabitants ( 2011 census ). 83.1 % of the respondents stated that the town mostly lacks the facilities of cultural character , including pharmacies ( 62.2 % of the respondents ), and doctor ’ s surgeries , spa and wellness centres , gyms and hairdressing salons ( 49.2 % of the respondents ).
DOES WE NEED NEW SANATORIUM FOR THE CLIMATIC CURE ?
Prcanj is located at the foot of Vrmac hill and due to the mixture of sea and mountain air it has been renowned as a health resort for a long time . The settlement is well-known for its unique fresh air suitable for people with lung diseases and allergies , which was recognized at the congress of Yugoslavian pulmonologists in 1920s . The sanatorium for non-specific pulmonary diseases was situated in the area of Lekovina , which has special microclimatic benefits , until the 1979 earthquake . After 1979 , it was relocated to Markov Rt . Unfortunately , the new area in Markov Rt where the Sanatorium was built , lacked such specific aeration and at present , the facility is in deteriorated condition , serving just as the low budget hotel / hostel without medical treatments .
Most respondents ( specifically 52.3 % of them ) stated that a new sanatorium should be built at the location of Markov Rt but not at Lekovina , in the area of specific microclimate where the sanatorium existed earlier , which was proposed by only 32.3 % of the respondents .
