My sophomore year we went 5-4 in the football season didn’t even make the play offs in football which was kind of a let down because at North Fayette we have tradition to make it the dome for about every year and be district champs that year was the first year in a while that we didn’t make it. We beat Sumner the final game which was kind of a good way to end the football season but we were a young team and had 3 years left most of us. We found out that we were merging with Valley we weren’t really excited that this was happened to us. We thought it would end our tradition being known as a football school. Coach told us from day one that we were going to be a team with depth and we are going to be a team with skilled people all over and hard to stop. None of us believed him right away but he was right later on. We all started lifting in the summer time that is when most of us met the Valley people and then we would hang out at some peoples has or have bonfires to get to know the Valley people better. We were getting close we turned into friends and then turned into family shortly after being together with them every Monday Wednesday and Friday we grinded together then usually at the end of lifting we would have a competition with football or something. Every Sunday we would play football together everyone from all over would come it was a good time and we got to know everybody even more. We kept grinding and grinding knowing that we could be a good team but we weren’t sure how good we could be. We knew that we came together as a family pretty fast but neither of us had winning seasons in my book as football teams last year. That is what kept us motivated not many of us missed a day of lifting. Football camp finally came it was time for the season to go off and it went as fast as a blink of an eye with me teammates. We had a lot of great memories a lot of great plays happened. Out of all of this I learned and I think our team learned that you don’t get far without working. Talent is talent but it doesn’t go very far when you don’t work at it and use it. Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work.
