ATTACHMENT & RELATIONSHIPS ATTACHMENT & RELATIONSHIPS 3 hours NQS Areas: 1, 4, 5 & 6 This workshop offers the opportunity to learn about the latest research and practice on attachment, and draws on two key approaches to supporting the building of relationships with children. Through exploring Circle of Security and the relevance of understanding children’s emotional wellbeing, social development and participation, the first part of the workshop will reflect on the importance of secure attachment and positive relationships in supporting and promoting children’s learning and behaviour. The second part of the workshop will introduce Marte Meo, a strengths-based developmental support program, designed to support children’s social and emotional development in everyday communication and interaction moments. GUIDANCE VERSUS PRAISE: AN OVERVIEW OF GUIDANCE THEORY 2 hours NQS Areas: 1, 2, 5, 6 This two hour workshop provides participants with an overview of guidance theory, and asks them to consider the benefits and effects of praise and acknowledgement in educational settings. Through completing this course participants will: Compare the differences between praise and acknowledgement. Identify praise and acknowledgement phrases. Explore the benefits of using acknowledgement phrases. Consider how acknowledgement phrases can be used as a strategy towards building inclusive and positive relationships. Completing Guidance versus Praise: An Overview of Guidance Theory will contribute 2 hours of registered PD addressing 4.1.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.
