Utilising our own knowledge, evidence and experience to inform, influence and improve practice.
the application of child safe practices
by all KU staff on a day to day basis
and ensures that at every level and
location within KU, our priority is the
safety and wellbeing of our children
and their families.
It has also been a significant year in
terms of the resources and training
sessions that KU has developed and
produced. Overall, almost 5,700
educators and support staff furthered
their professional development through
200 professional learning sessions
delivered through KU’s Professional
Learning programs in 2019.
In 2019, KU was funded by the
NSW Department of Education’s
Preschool Inclusion Sector Capacity
Building Program to assist educators
in community-based preschools in
the inner west and eastern suburbs
of Sydney, Penrith and the Illawarra,
to increase their capacity to include
children with disabilities and
additional needs.
Furthermore, KU, along with our
partner organisation Include Me,
is the Inclusion Development Fund
Manager (IDFM). As part of the IDFM,
KU provides additional inclusion
support to services across Australia
by assessing inclusion applications,
such as subsidies for additional
educators, immediate/time limited
support, family day care top-up,
and innovative solutions support.
In 2019, KU’s IDFM team assessed
over 10,000 funding applications to
support services across the country
with inclusion.
We are looking forward to continuing
to utilise our knowledge, evidence
and experience in new and innovative
ways to improve not only our practices
with children and families, but also
the practices of the sector.
