ANNUAL REPORT 2019 ACHIEVING EXCELLENCE Leading the way “Our NQS result reaffirms KU’s position as a provider of exceptionally high-quality early education programs.” KU 20 19 At KU, we believe our strategic objective to ‘Achieve Excellence’ applies to everything we do; it’s what drives us, and we are proud of the results we achieve, and the benefits that brings for children, families and staff. We remain inherently proud of the consistent excellence we see in the dedication and commitment of our staff, and the high quality and outstanding delivery of our early childhood education and care services. Within a sector and profession that is historically humble, we believe in the importance of celebrating excellence in its many forms. KU is proud to maintain a consistently high National Quality Standard (NQS) result, continuing to far exceed the sector. In 2019, our centres continued to be independently assessed as amongst the highest quality in the country with 99% of our services rated meeting, exceeding or excellent, compared to the sector average of 80%. This reaffirms KU’s position as a provider of exceptionally highquality early education programs. KU strives to develop and retain the best educators in the sector, and was proud to have two staff members honoured in the 2018 ASG National Excellence in Teaching Awards (NEiTA), announced in March 2019; Kathy Hatcher, Director at KU Chatswood Community Preschool, and Rosanne Pugh, Director at KU Ourimbah. 8
