Advice on ESG
Green Summit Denmark : from knowledge of the law to practical experience with ESG
In October , we hosted the event Green Summit Denmark 2022 together with Legal 500 , a rating agency . The event brought together leading professionals who presented their views on sustainability and the ESG agenda .
The discussions revolved around acceleration of the green transition through cooperation , corporate sustainability due diligence , colourwashing , and challenges at management level . The panellists shared their experience and exchanged views on the challenges and opportunities facing companies in Denmark and worldwide when addressing environmental , social , and management issues in their operations , supply chains , and management bodies .
Susan Korsholm Høj , Legal Counsel and Head of ESG at CataCap Management : " We need in-house training . ESG training is needed at management and board level . And there is a cry for common standards . Legislation and EU taxonomy will hopefully contribute to this , but could also add to the complexity ."
Lone Wandahl Mouyal , Associate Professor and PhD at the University of Copenhagen : " Until now , corporate sustainability efforts have mainly been based on voluntary initiatives . Now they are being replaced by actual legislation . ESG is not an invention of the wheel . We just need to learn how to drive a new car ."
Marissa Saretsky , VP , Global Sustainability at Pandora : " Change takes time . First , you need to set the right level of ambition , which requires discussions and alignment with the board to ensure management support . Once the ambition is clear , you shift gears to make sure that the right teams and resources are in place to actually get the job done .”
Kristjan Jespersen , Associate Professor and PhD at Copenhagen Business School : " Until now , it has been a question of intentions versus profit , but we need to find a balance ."
Maria Holst Levin , partner at Kromann Reumert : " Sustainability work should not be turned into a big monster . It is crucial that it is ( also ) supported by the senior management . Start by looking at which rules and societal trends you need to address : " what are our risks and what is most important ?". Then you can build from there ."
