Cybersecurity

Danish companies are among the most digitised in the world . For the vast majority of them , technology and digital support are essential to allow them to fulfil their core tasks , to remain competitive , and to accelerate the green transition .
But growing dependence on the internet also makes companies more vulnerable to digital threats and cyber attacks . Moreover , the threat level is increased by the changing security landscape where cyber attacks and disinformation are being used on an equal footing with military actions in hybrid warfare .
According to partners Christel Teglers and Søren Skibsted , who advise companies and organisations on technology , digitisation and outsourcing , cybersecurity is a major risk to many businesses . And poor cyber risk management is one of the greatest personal risks facing directors and executives today . Christel elaborates :
" The days when cybersecurity could be considered a job for the IT department are over . It is a top-level management responsibility . The cyber threat is real and potentially critical to businesses and society . It is therefore essential that the management knows what is digitally critical to the company , and that there are strategies , policies and tested plans in place to protect the digital assets and activities ."
New reality – greater management responsibility Over the last few years , we have seen a massive pressure on nations ' critical infrastructure and increasingly devastating attacks . It challenges companies and society and , according to Søren , calls for greater management focus :
" To remain resilient in the fight against cyber attacks , a management-supported strategy and a common understanding of how to articulate and manage cyber risks across the organisation are needed . Many Danish companies are not adequately protected against or prepared for a cyber attack . It remains a management responsibility to ensure this . Boards of directors and executive boards therefore have to take an active interest in cybersecurity and treat cyber risks like any other business-critical risks ," he says .
A new Danish Defence Agreement is expected before long , and cybersecurity will also be regulated in more detail at European level in the years ahead , for instance
