Åsa Jungnelius
Åsa Jungnelius’ modern classic, Snippan, is now being presented in a smaller design that can also be used as a bowl. Since it was first created in 2003, Snippan has become a contemporary feminist symbol that has recurred in different forms and formats in Jungnelius’ art, for example, in countless table settings – a work that Jungnelius describes as a social act. The sculpture is included in Nationalmuseum’ s collection as the“ mothership” of the work Your hair is so pretty! – a sealed blown-glass object that challenges concepts such as gender, power, space and identity. In 2004, Snippan helped to establish a new word, which was included two years later in the Swedish Academy Dictionary.“ I’ m so glad that Snippan is now available in a smaller, more accessible design for interiors – it is a sculpture, but it is also a bowl, a carrier,” says Åsa Jungnelius. Snippan is cast in a graphite mold at the hot shop in Kosta and painted with liquid platinum.
