’ My goal has been to simply make a figurine. I’ ve always been interested in small sculptures, ones that anyone can buy, mainly in the world of ceramics. We had them at home when I was growing up and I got lost in them. I have a collection myself now, which I have used as a motif in my paintings. I think it can be seen as an androgynous figure, in a meditative state of mind- a sculptural expression that I find interesting. The name evokes antiquity, which I like, but it’ s actually the name the model I sculpted after.’
