Throughout his long career , Engman ’ s works have been characterized by vibrant musicality , playfulness , flying colors , the joy of life , and a distinctive warm sense of humor .
Fidji is among his most beloved , classic design objects . The collection , which is part of the Kosta Boda Artist Collection , was first launched in 1988 .
“ The idea came up a long time ago when I accidentally dropped a can of motor oil in the bathtub .
A pattern in three colors appeared – two hard ones and one soft ,” Engman says . “ In the end , I selected just two colors . I came across the name having watched a documentary about beautiful blossoming Fidji . For whatever reason , the documentary caught my attention and I came to associate it with the bottles ."
