PREPARING TO DRILL
In addition to our active leadership and
participation in industry initiatives, we have
also deployed an in-house Well Integrity
Management System (WIMS). This is a
process that ensures the safe condition
of a well at all stages in its life cycle. Well
Integrity is the application of technical, operational and organizational solutions to
reduce risk of uncontrolled release of well
bore fluids throughout the life cycle of a
well, to avoid harm to people, environment
and assets and ensure the required barriers
and assurance tasks are in place to prevent
potential incidents or failures.
Kosmos Energy’s continuing success depends on the ability to manage and explore
its reservoirs in the most efficient manner
to sustain production targets, while maintaining a high level of safety performance.
Ensuring the integrity of wells is essential
to achieve these requirements. The WIMS
dictates the design and execution of drilling, completions and testing of wells in a
safe and efficient manner that is consistent
with strong well governance procedures
and internationally recommended best
practices, such as our thorough Three Tier
Review Process of the well design program.
Just as important is our emergency response preparedness and ability to minimize environmental impacts in the unlikely
