Mrs. Sung Kim, Co-founder & Director, National Korean Studies Seminar Sung Kim is the President and Co-founder of the National Korean Studies Seminar that was established in 2013. She served as the Vice President of the Korea Academy for Educators from 2005 to 2013. She is the Co-President of the International Korean Educators Network (IKEN) and has taught in a Korean Dual Language Program in LAUSD for 20 years and is now teaching at Cedarlane Academy in Hacienda La Puente USD since 2016. She is one of the major creators of IKEN digital textbooks and Korean Online Courses from 2010 to 2016. She was awarded a Distinguished Teacher of the Year recognition from the Ministry of Education in South Korea in 2011 and was selected as an awardee of the Global Korean Award from Michigan State University in 2017. She is a graduate of Seoul National University. Ms. Jini Shim, Assistant Director, National Korean Studies Seminar Jini Shim received her MA in Applied Linguistics / TESOL at San Diego State University. She was a fellow at the Academy of Korean Studies in 2015 and has been a part of various media and arts organizations such as Korea Daily, Pacific Arts Movement, and Busan International Film Festival in South Korea. She plans to pursue the multiple subject teaching credential at CSUF in the coming year. 14
