IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE FOR
REUSABLE SURGICAL INSTRUMENTS IN
DENTISTRY!
Please read before using the instrument!
Area of application
Reusable surgical instruments in dentistry, which
· are one-piece
· contain simple hinges or simple moveable parts
· in certain cases consist of several replaceable parts.
Products are excluded, which
· are connected to an active unit
· are operated using energy.
Intended use
Instruments may only be used for their intended
purpose in specialist medical fields by properly trained,
qualified personnel. The attending doctor or operator
is responsible for selection of the instrumentarium for
specific applications and operative use, appropriate
training and information and adequate experience for
handling of the instrumentarium.
General warnings!
Incorrect handling and care of the instruments as well
as misuse or modifications to the instruments can con-
tribute to damage or failure of the instrument, which
could result in serious injury to patients or even death.
On receipt, check the instrument for possible transport
damage and perfect function.
Small instruments (e.g. micro mirror) must be secured
by the user to ensure that swallowing or aspiration is
excluded, e.g. using a rubber dam or attaching suture
material.
Instruments are non-sterile on delivery and must be
cleaned and sterilised by the operator before use. This ex-
cludes products that are marked as “sterile” on the label.
Safety check
Treat all instruments with the necessary care. Every
instrument should be checked visually before each use.
Check in particular for cracks, fractures, deformation,
stiffness – also especially in areas like blades, tips,
closures, locks, notches and all moveable parts. If the
instrument has been disassembled, ensure perfect
functioning and all screws and parts are securely fitted
after assembly.
Cleaning care and sterilisation
Instruments should be thoroughly cleaned and disin-
fected immediately after use. Particular care should
be taken with difficult to access areas such as blades,
tips, closures, locks and notches. Products that can be
disassembled should always be cleaned in a dismantled
state. Only cleaners permitted for surgical instruments
may be used. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions
regarding concentration and reaction time of the disin-
fectant. Do not exceed specifications to avoid damaging
instruments. The final rinsing cycle must be rinsed
thoroughly using demineralised water. Then allow
instruments to drip sufficiently and dry.
After cleaning and before sterilisation, all instruments
should be coated with suitable, physiologically safe oil,
(e. g. Art. No. 9110, Page 399).
All instruments with hinges should be sterilised in
the open state. We recommend autoclaves or hot air
sterilizers as sterilisation procedures. Please follow the
sterilizer manufacturer’s instructions for use.
Following sterilisation, all instruments should be
allowed to cool to room temperature without additional
cooling. Do not rinse instruments for cooling using
cold water!
Validated preparation instructions according to DIN EN
ISO 17664 can be found on our homepage.
Handling and storage
Instruments should be stored dry, dust-free and away
from chemical products. Avoid temperature fluctuations
and direct sunlight. Take measures to protect against
damage during transport, cleaning, care and storage.
Disposal
Observe your local and national laws, guidelines, stand-
ards and regulations for disposal and ensure that parts
are not contaminated during disposal.
Repair, service and accessories
For legal reasons we only repair instruments manu-
factured by ourselves, not products of other manufac-
turers. Repairs by a third-party exclude all guarantee
claims.
Instruments, returned as a complaint or for repair,
must have been cleaned prior to dispatch and made
hygienically safe using a validated preparation process.
The manufacturer reserves the right to refuse dirty
and contaminated products for safety reasons. Please
include appropriate proof with the return.
