While this event is held in Knysna, it has
become an institution to many people around
South Africa and more recently to folk abroad,
making it a national event with growing
international interest.
The event is now hailed as the ‘10 Best days of
your Winter’ – there is something for everyone.
With around 100 events to choose from, it is only
fittin that on ehal o n sna e on at late
the Worldsport team for their coordination of this
huge effort.
We wish all event organisers the very best
of luck and once again thank all visitors and
participants for taking the time to celebrate the

This is the 33rd Knysna
Oyster Festival, which
makes it one of the
oldest festivals in
the country. We’re
extremely proud of the
Festival and grateful
for the economic and
charity contributions
it makes to the
town every year. The
Festival continues to grow year on year – a remarkable
achievement, especially in the current economical
climate. Thank you to Pick n Pay and Momentum,
and all the other Festival and event sponsors for their
continued investment in our town and its residents.
The Festival wouldn’t be the same without the South

and crew as our special guests of honour this year.
I also want to thank the event organisers, residents
and the municipal staff for their hard work preparing
and hosting a world-class experience.
Then to the people who really make all of this
possible by attending the Festival – welcome to Knysna.
Enjoy our hospitality and the wonders Knysna has to
offer, whether you’re cycling or running in the beautiful
forests, swimming or canoeing in the lagoon, eating
oysters at the various Hotspots or tasting whisky and
wine. We hope you have a great time and that we will

and unwind for a
few days during the
chilly months, and
we’re delighted that
you’ve chosen to
spend this time
with us. As always
we have a programme with over 100 events for
every age and interest. For sporting enthusiasts
there’s our ever-popular cycling and running events,
and if the great outdoors are your thing, the magical
forest and lagoon await. Maybe you’re planning
to browse the markets or relax and catch up with
friends – the Festival is perfect for that, too.
And remember it’s not called the Oyster Festival
for nothing! The many eateries around Knysna
are known for their excellent oysters (and other
seafood) so we’ve also lined up dedicated oyster
events at the Festival Pavilion that are always
a hit with festival-goers.
Please make sure you pop into the all-new Pick

Woodmill Lane Centre on the corner of Main Road,
Long and St George’s Streets. We look forward to
