Always carry plenty of
water with you to prevent
dehydration. Whether it’s
a long or short hike, take some
snacks too – nuts are a great
option because they’re full of
healthy fats and protein.
Wherever you hike, carry
a charged cellphone in case
of an emergency.

Weather 101
Although Knysna is one of
the most temperate places
in Southern Africa, always be
prepared for a sudden change
in weather – it’s well-known
for four seasons in one day.
Knysna can get very cold and
wet during the winter months,
so pack some warm clothes
and a pair of wellies to keep
your feet dry.

Comfortable hiking shoes
are a necessity. The last thing
you want is blistered feet
to ruin your experience.
Follow the hiking routes –
don’t veer off a trail because
you may get lost.
Don’t forget the sunblock. Even
though you’re hiking through
leafy forests, you’re still at risk
of getting sunburnt.
