INFORMATION
Alabama has some of the most lenient homeschooling laws in the country . In the past two decades , home educators , along with the help of city and county school districts , have established a procedure for legal homeschooling in Alabama that offers minimum government regulation .
General Homeschool Information
Teaching Requirements : Children can be homeschooled by way of a certified tutor or by enrolling in an “ umbrella ” program . The “ Tutorial Law ” requires tutors to be state-certified teachers who are monitored by the local school district . We have several designated “ umbrella schools ” listed below .
Age requirements : Alabama ’ s compulsory attendance age is set from 6 to 17 years of age .
