HOW EARLY ( AT WHAT AGE ) WOULD YOU RECOMMEND TAKING A CHILD TO THE DENTIST ? Our recommendation is that of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry ' s that advises seeing children at one year of age or within six months of the eruption of the first tooth . At this visit we will do a brief oral exam and talk with the parent about day to day home care and oral hygiene practices . We discuss the use of juice and milk and their roles in tooth decay .
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO ESTABLISH ROUTINE DENTAL CARE EARLY ON ? It allows for education of the parents on what dental hygiene and diet guidelines they need to be practicing to get their child off to a great start with their oral care . It helps the child become comfortable with a dentist so that in the future they can come to a familiar place they are comfortable with , especially in an emergency situation due to a fall or accident . Routine dental care is every six months for children just as it is for adults .
HOW DO I FIND THE RIGHT DENTIST ? The most important considerations for the appropriate dentist for your child are your child ’ s experience , the quality of care he or she receives , and your level of trust in the dental practice . Online reviews and the practice ’ s website are often helpful . Ask around how other ’ s experiences have been . Dr . David Stanley and Dr . Davis Denney both graduated from the University of Alabama School of Dentistry and received certificates in Pediatric Dentistry and completed a Fellowship in the treatment of special needs children at UAB ’ s Sparks Clinic .
Dr . David attended Birmingham Southern College , where he played baseball . He is a native of Montgomery and is a graduate of Trinity Presbyterian School . Dr . David and his wife Natalie have two sons , Coleman and Hayes , and twin daughters , Delaney and Cameron .
Dr . Davis received his undergraduate degree from Auburn University . He is from Lanett , Alabama . Dr . Davis and his wife have two sons , Davis and Dawson , and three daughters , Kate , Kennedy , and Keller . are Joining
