No More One & Done

It started to seem like a curse.

A handful of playoff games lost by less than a touchdown combined. Several talented teams whose postseason runs were cut abruptly short. One and done.

Not this year.

The Notre Dame Knights jumped out to a 16-0 first-quarter lead and used a scrappy defense to pull out a 34-28 victory over Longview Trinity in the TAPPS 6-man Div. III Regional Final.

The defense came up big in the final quarter, recording a safety that turned all the momentum in the Knights' favor.

Skyler Whitten paced Notre Dame with 195 rushing yards and three touchdowns. His longest run of the night went for 42 yards to pay dirt.

The win catapulted Notre Dame into a state semi-final matchup with North Central Texas Academy. Earlier this season, the Pioneers dominated the Knights in a non-district matchup that ended 90-58 in NCTA'S favor.

The rematch was on.
