9. The Vintage trend is still going strong. It’s no surprise – there is something romantic about family heirlooms to your wedding day. After all, love and romance are eternal. Many couples are opting to add old photo’s of loved ones that have passed on, in their weddings displays.

10. Navy and all shades of blue are trending for 2014 brides in the USA right now. Think navy with pink, or navy and yellow. Or turquoise and white. Another old favourite returning in a massive way, is all shades of pink, from barely-there blush pink, to salmon, to watermelon, to intense purple.

11. The sweets table! International trends all feature these, as opposed to serving dessert. A table laden with biscuits, toffees, candy canes, popcorn, chocolates, cupcakes – every grand affaire needs a sugar coating! You can even have family members pitch to bake cookies and cupcakes – they’ll love the idea of being part of it!

12. Coloured wedding dresses are hot stuff on the runways right now. White will always reign supreme, but more brides are letting their personalities shine through with coloured gowns. From pretty pastels to dramatic brides with bridesmaids in white – it’s your day – rock your dress!

13. Friday becomes the new Saturday – couples are opting for marrying on Fridays, asking guests to make a long weekend of it. You may be able to negotiate a discount for a Friday, since it is not the busiest wedding-day of the week.

14. The pouring of sand adds a symbolic twist in a visually interesting way. During a symbolic sand ceremony the bride and groom take it in turns to pour coloured sand into a beautiful keepsake glass vase in front of their loved ones to symbolise the joining of two people, two families and the unity of their coming together

Just as grains of sand can never be separated and poured again

into the individual containers, so will your marriage be,

united as one for all of your days
