Klerksdorp Weddings #3 January 2014 | Page 9

Planning a wedding in a short amount of time is very exciting as

you have to keep the momentum going and it builds very quickly towards the big day – it is large scale, intense excitement!

For some reason, because of the extreme focus, it seems easier

to get everything to jel together.

Week 6:

Meet with the caterer to taste foods and plan the menu; book vehicles. Confirm everything booked in writing. Make sure about contracts with vendors.

Week 5:

Create a music list for your DJ / make a CD if you don’t have a DJ. Make a copy. Double check your fiance’s to-do list. Get your rings sorted out, and hand them in for alterations / engraving.

Week 4:

Have a dress fitting (you’ll have to follow the store’s schedule); make sure you have your accessories. Finish the DIY projects.

Week 3:

Pick up rings. Phone guests that have not RSVP’d. Do seating plan and seating board. Double check your fiance’s to-do list.

Week 2:

Double check with all vendors. Confirm everything to the last detail. Confirm with priest / minister. Confirm that bridesmaids dresses are ready. Confirm Maid of Honour and Best Man duties with them – they will be very busy helping you next week – give them specific duties. Make sure they know everything, have a detailed schedule of what must be done when, and contact numbers for everything. Confirm booking for wedding night accommodation. Double check your fiance’s to-do list.

Week 1:

Pick up dress; confirm wedding services; give caterer final headcount; finalise payments to vendors Pack overnight bag for wedding night. Pack if you are going on honeymoon. Have a meeting with parents, Maid of Honour, Best Man to go through all of the arrangements. Delegate the organising of the bridesmaid and the groomsmen to the Maid of Honour and the Best Man. Deliver DIY projects. Arrange who collects and delivers what. Meet with every vendor four days before the wedding, and then speak to them on the day before the wedding, to give them your Maid of Honour and Best Man’s names and numbers as contacts for the wedding day.

Phew! 12 weeks of craziness will end in the best night of your life. If there are hiccups – laugh about it! Remember – your attitude on the day, overrules and outshines everything else!
