HONDA UPDATES CB500 RANGE

Honda ’ s learner legal CB500 range has been hit with the upgrade stick for the 2022 model year with the CB500 , CB500R and CB500X all receiving notable updates . Headlining the 2022 model updates is a new suspension system in the form of 41mm Showa Separate Function Big Piston USD forks and changes to the bike ’ s weight balance along with updates to the braking system and styling . Inherited from Honda ’ s four-cylinder CB650R and CBR650R , the new Showa 41mm SFF-BP USD forks not only bring improved handling and ride quality , but also the visual credibility of USD forks to the entry-level 500s . The forks are now matched to lighter Y spoke aluminium wheels on the CB500F and CBR500R , complete with new dual 296mm wavy front discs and radial-mounted Nissin calipers . The adventure focused CB500X shares the same new brake and suspension updates as its siblings and also features longer front suspension travel and a lighter , larger 19-inch front wheel . All three also receive a new lighter swingarm , which is stiffer rotationally , but more flexible laterally to improve handling and cornering performance . The punchy 500cc engine at the heart of each machine still produces the same power but for 2022 it now features new PGM-FI settings to further enhance both torque feel and overall character . Visually the bikes also get a kick up a gear with new colour options and a range of official Honda accessories to get riders out of the dealership ready to take on the world . Currently , we have no word from New Zealand ’ s Honda motorcycle distributor , Blue Wing Honda , on an expected local delivery of the 2022 CB500 range or what pricing might look like .
